Two fuel pumps in the center tank pump fuel out of the center tank to the engines. Center tank fuel pumps switched off when the center tank quantity decreases to ~1200kgs, and the EICAS message FUEL LOW CENTER comes on.
From this point the main tanks take over and each one feeding the onside engine, until you land.
The left over fuel in the center will be pumped out into the main tanks by scavenge system. The one fuel scavenge jet pump in each side of the center tank draws fuel from the low points in the center tank and send it to the main tanks.
